Group
In madagascan language, a Fenoamby is an eagle with two heads or a bicycle with three wheels, or even a sheep with five legs- in a word anything wich is bizarre !Marius Fontaine, the leader of the group; is a composer-songwriter, multiinstrumentist (Kabossy, Valiha, marovany, harmonica and guitar , accordéon ), master of the ceremony and singer who has a large repertoire from the lament to the salegy (Rhythm 6/8, the most popular song in Madagascar). He has the voice of the madgascan husky singers in bars and sings the most rhythm of the big Island like Salegy, Tsapiky, Watcha Watcha , Sigoma and used sometimes the sound of South Africa (Zoulou rock), Sega maloya (Reunion Isand) and Regassy (Madagascan Reggae).
Marius Fontaine was born in the North East of the Madagascar at Ampanefena, in the Diego Suarez province. He came to the Reunion Island to in 1982. His group Fenoamby began working to the Reunion Island at the end of the eighties and has recorded three albums, the first in 1991 (live112), the second in 1993 (Fanajana "Respect") and the third in 1996 (Ravo "Hapiness"). Quickly, the group became a famous group all over the Indian Ocean and decided to go to France in 1998. The group recorded two album in 2002 called "Ho ala Areo" "we will be god" and the last in 2005 "Tany Malaza""Gold Hearth".
Marius works with five others musicians and plays on stage with his "Kabossy" a small tipically Madagascar guitar wich is played by the "cattlemen", Valiha, Marovany, Djembé.
valiha marovany Marius has no rival when it comes to songing the trance-like salegy, or salégai as he translates himself into creole.
This is gorgeous music, quite simply hapiness.
When everybody has danced themselves into a dripping sweat, he 'll come to the mélodies which are resonant which nostalgia, or evocative of the magnificent spreading palmtrees which line the roads of Madagascar.
